The annuals that we planted early this spring are beginning to bloom!! The mulberries are in full fruit, the strawberries are close to it and many flowers at CFM are in some stage of bloom including Agrimony eupatoria, Lady Bells (Adenophora confusa), Angelica archangelica, Clematis "Betty Corning," Apothecary rose, Eglantine rose, Rosa mundi, Asclepias incarnate, Aquilegia canadensis, Stylophorum diphyllum, Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium), Achillea "Moonshine," Centaurea montana, Hosta (mixed varieties), Astillbe (mixed varieties), Lychnis coronaria, Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea), Corydalis ochroleuca, California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica), Polemonium caeruleum, Hydrangea arborescens, Penstemon digitalis "Husker's Red," Geranium "Johnson's Blue," Monarda didyma, Cosmos "Sensation," Stachys byzantine, Oenothera biennis, Yucca filamentosa, annual Larkspur, Gaillardia aristata, Sedum (mixed varieties), Hemerocallis (mixed varieties), Heuchera (Common garden coral bells), Horned Poppy (Glacium flavum), annual Silene, Bells of Ireland (Molucella laevis), and Campanula glomerata.

Mixed varieties of Daffodils (Narcissus sp.) continue to pop up in all of the gardens. Most notable of the daffodils are the diminutive and intensely yellow Narcissus jonquilla simplex bulbs currently blooming in the tool shed beds. Other bulbs blooming are Tulips, Grape Hyacinths, Fritillaria meleagris just finishing up in the Spring House Garden and English bluebells just beginning to consider their appearance in the McLaughlin Gazebo Garden. Several types of Dwarf Iris are in bloom along with an interesting Iris bucharica and Windflowers (Anemone blanda), Lily of the Valley, Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia viginica sp.), Violets, Golden Seal (Hydrastis canadensis), Trillium grandiflora, Bleeding Heart, White and Pink (Dicentra sp.), Wood Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum), Forget-Me-Nots (Myosotis sp.), white flowered Blue-eyed Mary (Omphalodes verna), Siberian Bugloss (runnera macrophyla), Primulas, Sweet Woodruff (Galium odoratum syn. Asperula Odorata), Cushion Spurge (Euphorbia polychrome) and White Cinquefoil (Potentilla alba). Trees and shrubs in bloom or (about to be) include Lilacs, Sand Cherry (Prunus x cistena), Dogwood (Cornus florida), Vibernum carlesii, and Redbud (Cersis sp.)
